The two ways are: Electrical failure and Mechanical Failure. So naturally the next question is how you determine which system caused the compressor failure. Well, to do so you will need learn how to test the system specifically for each type of failure. An electrical failure will generally be the result of a short or some other wiring problem. Tips for Air Conditioning Repair

Tips For Air Conditioning Repair

How can you effectively diagnose and repair an air conditioning system when it breaks? This is really the fundamental question that every HVAC technician in the country has to learn the answer to if he or she wants to master the craft of air conditioning repair. In this post we will discuss a few ways that a seasoned HVAC technician would go about diagnosing a problem.

Today's Tip:
Gather Detailed Information from the Home-Owner. This is important and often times is overlooked by many novice technicians. Don't just ask the basic questions. You know "What seems to be the problem?", "How long has this problem been going on?" etc. The home-owner just knows that it doesn't work and doesn't know why, that's why he has called you! You need to ask pertinent questions that will help you diagnose the trouble not open-ended questions that are generally of little value. A more pointed question like "Have you had any electrical problems our recent power outages? Surges in power can cripple an HVAC system if the electrical wiring is not done correctly. If the home-owner tells you that they recently had a power outage and the HVAC unit has been on the fritz ever since then. This should lead you to first examine the electrical connections to see if there has been a blown fuse, a tripped breaker or any other of a number of potential electrical problems. Without asking the home-owner this specific question, they might have told you that the AC has been out since yesterday and I'm not sure why. Alot of help that would be! Take the time and do a thorough interview of the home-owner and you are likely to save yourself alot of troubleshooting time in the long run!
